Extender
Point Mode:
In point mode, extender is an improved version of my old script, poz extender. Like poz extender, it allows you to select an unordered group of points, automatically reordering the polys it extends to face the proper normals. Furthermore, it detects when it should loop and when it shouldn't, unlike lightwave's built-in extender which always loops and unlike kag extender which never loops. Unlike poz extender, this is a real plugin and performs much faster as a result. Furthermore, it uses a simpler but more efficient algorithm of determining the normals of each edge's connected polygon when creating each extended polygon as opposed to reordering the entire point selection as a whole. As a result, you no longer have to select the first two points in the proper clockwise order. The entire selection can be selected with a lasso without problems. The plugin works particularly well with the select loop plugin when used to select borders.
Poly Mode:
In poly mode, extender just performs a quick grouped polygon extrusion without providing an interactive interface. It can be a quick way to extrude while having an interactive transformation tool active such as scale/move or my translate tool as opposed to using smooth shift or super shift, dropping it, and then reactivating transformation tools.
Here's an animation of extender in action combined with the use of make poly, create pole, and fix poles at the end. Normally I use shortcut keys for all this, but I tried to use the mouse more in this animation to show what tools I'm using. Unfortunately, the reduction in frame rate I used to optimize the animation makes it difficult to determine what I clicked on at times.
